I figure if I just paint a cupcake, then I get all the fun, without the calories!

So, whenever I see an illustration of a cupcake, it’s shaped much like the one above. Nice and round on top. Why is it I can never bake cupcakes that look like that once frosted? They don’t come out with such a robust top in real life. One of my biggest pet peeves are cupcakes with enormous piles of frosting on top so that they look more like this. Thing is, that always equals to way too much frosting. As Alton Brown would say, not good eats. I like just a light, even coating of frosting. Mostly cake.
One of these days, I’ll come up with a brilliant solution to this problem. A cupcake that achieves that adorable rounded top, without the icing overload.

What a wonderful little fluke!! I opened an Etsy shop late Saturday night featuring a few of my watercolor originals. What do you know, less than 24 hours later, I sold one!! Before I even had the chance to let you all know it was there. Beginners luck? Don’t know, don’t care. I’m happy.
It was the koi I painted to go along with this post. And today, it’s on it’s way to Texas. I don’t know anyone in Texas so…
#7 – Sell a Painting to a Total Stranger – Check!

That’s one check off my 30 before 30 list!
Honestly, my goal was to sell at least ONE painting. I’m really pretty proud of this accomplishment, small as it may be. Thanks to all who encouraged me to open a shop! Really, it meant a lot.

I just found two scanned paintings that I thought I didn’t have anymore! To celebrate, I’m posting them here for you. Calm down, no need to get so excited. Breathe.
Incidentally, they were both gifts for family members. This little fawn belongs to Jenny. It’s hanging in her powder room, if I’m not mistaken.

And this next one was for my beautiful Mom. It was really fun doing all that ink work. She’s still building her house in the Washington woods, so it’s not hanging anywhere yet. Oh well, it’s good luck to have a new picture ready to hang before your house is done. I totally just made that up.

I did this one last year sometime. I think I’m going to experiment more with white space like this.
Just some Cute for your Wednesday Morning.
