Beach Birds

Here we have a few paintings based on photos my sister took on her recent trip to Cancun. In case you haven’t noticed, birds are one of my favorite things to paint! Probably because their anatomy is a lot easier than many other animal groups. I’m looking at you mammals.

I was very inspired by the colors of the sea and the beach. I’m not big on backgrounds, so I just crammed the color palette into the birds themselves.

Word has it that this pelican was rather friendly! Not camera shy at all. Lucky for me!

Just now realizing that this seagull guy looks a bit sad and lost. Don’t be sad little dude! Your beak and legs truly are attached to your body! Lindsay just has a thing for white space. Artistic expression is nothing to cry over.

Sunday Snail

In my world, snails would be bright colors like this. And they would taste like sherbet if you licked the shell.

Ok, actually this was just some pen practice.

Have a nice Sunday!

A Fawn & A Fish

I just found two scanned paintings that I thought I didn’t have anymore! To celebrate, I’m posting them here for you. Calm down, no need to get so excited. Breathe.

Incidentally, they were both gifts for family members. This little fawn belongs to Jenny. It’s hanging in her powder room, if I’m not mistaken.

And this next one was for my beautiful Mom. It was really fun doing all that ink work. She’s still building her house in the Washington woods, so it’s not hanging anywhere yet. Oh well, it’s good luck to have a new picture ready to hang before your house is done. I totally just made that up.

Sunday Squirrel

I was experimenting with “wet on wet” vs “wet on dry” recently. This squirrel has both, and I think I like the combination!
